Sheldon Anderson, owner of the Las Vegas Sands, has halted all progression on the new resort he was building next to the Venetian Macau.

The local public is throwing around a couple of causes for the first down trend in six years. First off, it didn't help that the government recently put restrictions on visas for Chinese punters. A reversal of the restrictions will help in turning around the downswing.

Most blame the government for issuing too many licenses and making materials so expensive that the American casino companies are forced to cut back and wait for a better economic time to continue expansion. That time may not come for three years.
