American Idol's Top 10 Guys Step it Up

On American Idol, the guys were to dedicate their performances to the people who have inspired them. For Phil Stacey that was his Navy band back home. After 911, he joined the military as a singer. He sang "Missing You" by John Waite. Randy Jackson said it was hot. Paula Abdul loved the tone of his voice. Simon Cowell meanwhile wasn't jumping out of his chair. "You have a completely unoriginal voice. I'm just hearing a very good karaoke singer," Simon added.

Jared Cotter sang Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On," which he dedicated to his parents. Kinky.

AJ Tabaldo sang "Feeling Good", which Randy thought was a lot better than last week. Simon thought it was "nearly very good," but there were some tuning problems in the middle. Sanjaya Malakar sang a timid Michael Jackson-esque version of "Stepping out with my Baby". Randy thought it was weird. Paula looked on the bright side, saying that it was on pitch. She then rambled on about old songs and old souls, leading Simon to ask her if she liked it. "I don't like you," she told Simon.

As it turns out, Chris Sligh has a hot wife named Sarah. "No one in the world will ever know How I coerced her into marrying me," he joked. Sligh sang "Trouble" which he dedicated to her.

Nick Pedro sang a sultry, raspy "Fever" which he dedicated to his girlfriend Caitlin. Dedicating Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" to his hardworking parents, beatboxer Blake Lewis got mixed reviews from judges. Randy loved the return to Blake's earlier form but alas, Simon called it a "copy cat performance."

Brandon Rogers dedicated "Time After Time" to his grandmother. Randy liked the sentiment, but didn't think it showcased his voice. Brandon said he was trying to feel the song, and didn't think it needed a whole lot extra. Simon put the kibosh on the sentimental thing and said that although he loves grandmas, it's a singing competition.

Chris Richardson sang "Geek in Pink" for his grandma. Randy howled, "Chris is in it to win it, Dawg" .

Last but not least, Sundance Head sang "Mustang Sally" for his newborn son, Levi. Randy loved it and welcomed Sundance back (from the abyss that was last week's pitiful performance). Simon was glad that the Sundance they liked was back, but told him not to get carried away.
