Pop star Avril Lavigne has released her third album, "The Best Damn Thing", to mixed reviews.
The Globe & Mail wrote, "The Best Damn Thing is not the worst damn thing, but it is a calculated thing -- a shallow, callow, unrefreshing thing. Avril Lavigne, the sassy-imp pop creation from Napanee, Ont., is a 22-year-old married woman posing as a child and performing to an audience that counts training bras and braces for their teeth as their year's eventful acquisitions."
411mania.com wrote, "There’s barely anything redeeming here for a music lover unless you just LIKE pure bubblegum."
The Toronto Star wrote, "Packaged like a garish Teen Beat takeout – save, perhaps, a couple of alluring CD-insert shots of the Napanee native in fishnets and Brigitte Bardot pout – and bursting at the seams with pugilistic variations on the "Sk8r Boi" template, it's pretty much ready-made to become the celebrity-cementing home run Lavigne narrowly missed the last time out."
