Bettie Page Dies

Bettie Page has passed away at 85. Page had been on life support since her heart attack last week until her family agreed to discontinue it. She died in the early evening of December 11. The 1950's pinup embodied the image of fun and cheekiness and was one of the earliest Playboy Playmate of the Month (1955) models. Playboy magazine was only two-years-old at the time, and the cover shot showed Page, wearing only a Santa hat, kneeling before a Christmas tree and winking at the camera. Page has been credited for "setting the stage" for the sexual revolution of the 1960s.

Bettie dropped out of public view a long time ago as the erotic photography industry didn't fit in with her beliefs later in life. She will be missed but the girl who earned the title of "Miss Pinup Girl of the World" in 1955 will remain a strong icon for years to come.
