Oddsmakers say The Hurt Locker is  a strong contender  for the Best Picture category. (Summit Images)
It's Oscar season again and now, before the nominations are even announced, Bodog has all your Oscar odds. So start planning your Oscar party and get betting because those wily Bodog Sportsbook handicappers have named The Hurt Locker and Up in the Air as Oscar favorites for Best Picture.

Director Jason Reitman's Up in the Air  tells  the story of a corporate efficiency expert,  played by  George Clooney,  who travels the world  firing  people while collecting air-miles. Up in the Air  earned six Golden Globe nominations and leads the Best Picture odds at a respectable 3/1.   Although Up in the Air has received excellent reviews, six  Golden Globe nominations as well as four National Board of Review awards, including Best Film, Bodog's  props suggest that its strongest competitor will be  the Iraq war drama The Hurt Locker, which earned three Golden Globe nominations and has odds to win Best Picture at 7/2. The war flick stars Jeremy Renner, Ralph Fiennes, Guy Pearce, Evangeline Lilly and David Morse.

Waiting in the wings is James Cameron's long-awaited, Avatar, which has 10/1 odds of winning Best Picture. Cameron devoted the last twelve years of his life to this movie and so  far, his labor of love has paid off with the movie getting  strong early reviews  as well as  four Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture and a Best Director nod  for Cameron.

Other strong contenders for Best Picture include Precious (5/1), Invictus (15/1) and the much-hyped, star-studded musical, Nine (15/1).
