Britney Spears Booked on Hit-and-Run

Before booking herself into the Van Nuys jail, naturally, Britney Spears drove around Malibu getting gas and coffee in a hot pink wig.

According to TMZ, Britney later arrived in her jailhouse best -- a black mini dress, black leather jacket with silver chains around her neck, (though she'd lost the wig).

The LAPD told TMZ: "At approximately 9:25 p.m. Miss Britney Spears checked into the Van Nuys County Jail for a court ordered booking. She was put through standard booking procedures which included booking photographs, fingerprinting and collection of information. Britney was at all time cooperative in the process. She was there approximately 45 minutes."

Britney was charged with misdemeanor hit and run and driving without a valid license after a bad park job was caught on tape by Brit's ever-present paparazzi entourage where the starlet was seen checking out the damage to her own car and then walking away. If convicted, the singer could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine for each count.
