The View's resident hardcore Christian Sherri Shepherd has just revealed her dark past in the newest issue of Precious Times, a Christian magazine directed towards black women.

"My sister was heavy into drugs," Shepherd, 41, said. "We would have to go and get her from the crack houses."

Shepherd says that at the time, she was a Jehovah's Witness, according to US magazine, and was "in a very physically abusive relationship.

"I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count."

Shepherd also says that because of her low self-esteem, "I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference.

"God showed me that it would make a difference," she said of finally converting to Christianity.

And while Shepherd is often criticized for talking religion on ABC's The View, she says, "I ask the Lord, 'Why am I here?' I have to trust God when He says, 'Because I said so.'

"Oh, sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Meyer would be so good at this table," she continued. "They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved."
