Actress Christina Applegate is breast cancer free after undergoing a double mastectomy, reports US magazine. The Samantha Who star recently revealed that she was battling cancer, however, now she is in the clear.
"Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean," Applegate said on Good Morning America this morning. "It did not spread. They got everything out, so I'm definitely not going to die from breast cancer."
However, Applegate reveals that while her battle with cancer was short, it wasn't easy. "Sometimes I cry," she said. "Sometimes I scream, and I get really angry and I get really into wallowing in self-pity sometimes, and I think it's all part of healing."
Applegate said that she chose to get a full double mastectomy even though her cancer was in early stages because she tested positive for the breast cancer gene BRCA1. "I didn't want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything," she said. "I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing for me. This was the choice that I made, and it was a tough one."
