CMA Award 2008 Loser is Jessica Simpson

The CMA's went down last night but among the esteemed country stars - except for Jessica Simpson, who released a country album this year. Simpson has had run-ins with Tony Romo's ex before and with Carrie Underwood hosting the festivities - well, Simpson was shut-out.

TMZ reports, "In a last ditch effort to save her career, the "Dukes of Hazzard" star released a country album earlier this year -- so it would have made sense to make an appearance at last night's show. Unfortunately, the Carrie Underwood-hosted CMAs had no time to have Tony Romo's current girlfriend perform, present or sit in the bleachers, since they had already filled their ranks with tried and true country artists like Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Lil Wayne!"

Big winners included Kenny Chesney, who  took the coveted Entertainer of the Year award for the fourth year, while Brad Paisley and Underwood earned male and female Vocalist of the Year  awards.
