Admit it. When this season of Dancing with the Stars began, you said, If Marie Osmond wins this thing, I’m never watching reality TV again.
Well, get in all your Survivor, Amazing Race and Biggest Loser viewing now, buddy, ’cause it looks like the plug’s about to be pulled.
Osmond, who is 48 and moves slightly smoother than a robot, is getting all the votes from the baby boomers who must look at her and think, She’s still got it, that means I must too.
Along with dance partner Jonathan Roberts, Osmond advanced on Tuesday to the finals of the popular ABC show after the votes were tallied. Joining that couple are two-time Indy 500 champ Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough, and Spice Girl Melanie Brown and Maksim Chermkovskiy.
Gone is Jennie Garth, an actress, and her partner Derek Hough (brother of Julianne).
Castroneves is the betting favorite with reality TV odds of 1/1 and Brown, who was a co-favorite when the season began, is at 2/1. Osmond is the long shot at 5/1, but don't put too much stock into the number. Handicappers set odds based on what makes sense. People who vote on reality TV shows don't follow logic. If you believe the most deserving dancer should win and not the most popular, then bet on Castroneves. But correct us if you’ve seen this one play out in favor of the least-deserving contestant before.
The finals are next Tuesday on ABC. Here are Dancing with the Stars odds for the remaining celebrity contestants:
Melanie Brown - 2/1
Helio Castroneves - 1/1
Marie Osmond - 5/1
