Dancing With the Stars Odds: Wayne Newton Should've Stayed in Vegas

The Beat has learned that Wayne Newton wasn't booted off Dancing with the Stars because of his pachydermian (is that a word?) footwork. A scientific survey conducted within the confines of an urban living room Tuesday night concluded Newton's ridiculous ponytail - which screamed, "I'm cool, really, I am. Look at me, can't you see? I'm cool" - was the real reason viewers voted him out of the popular ABC show.

With the ouster of Las Vegas' favorite lounge lizard, nine contestants remain in contention. Newton's departure also settles one bet. Odds were offered on who would last longer, Newton or fellow long shot Mark Cuban. The Dallas Mavericks' owner, surprisingly, has some fans. Despite being the most unfunky dude on the show by far, Cuban has lasted one more week.

Two-time Indy 500 champ Helio Castroneves survived the voting after what the judges said was a poor outing on Monday. We'll take their word for it. And boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. looked bored when the judges scolded him for not learning technique.

Tuesday's show also featured a performance by Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter, Miley Cyrus, who's a Disney star but hasn't yet been caught on camera with her clothes off. Seal, who looks cool but can't sing, also sang.

Here are the latest Dancing with the Stars odds for season five.

Melanie Brown - 5/1
Floyd Mayweather Jr. - 11/2
Cameron Mathison - 8/1
Sabrina Bryan - 11/4
Helio Castroneves - 3/2
Mark Cuban - 12/1
Jane Seymour - 21/2
Marie Osmond - 10/1
Jennie Garth - 11/1
