David Hasselhoff Launches Social Networking Site

The term "The Hoff" started gaining momentum as this new counter culture of people emerged who thought David Hasselhoff was awesome in a weird, "he's so cheesy, he's cool" sort of way.

David Hasselhoff became cool in the way someone can be unintentionally funny (see: William Hung). Thus, suddenly Hasselhoff emerged as an unintentional hero of sorts. It was cool to give mock respect to the guy who who is cheesy to the point of unreasonableness and still manages to revel in his own awesomeness -- while eating a cheeseburger from the floor, of course.

If only he hadn't jumped on the whole "Don't Hassle the Hoff" bandwagon. He should have just let it happen organically rather than trying to market it up the ass, peddling T-Shirts and writing a tell-all book using the catchphrase as the title. If only he'd let his cult following just happen -- rather than desperately trying to fan the flames.

Alas, the fad of loving David Hasselhoff is waning, thanks to Hasselhoff himself. Now, however, Hasselhoff is trying a new trick - launching his own social networking site at Davidhasselhoff.com. There, fans of the Hoff can go to Hoffspace and the Hoffblog to read and discuss their favorite topic, the Hoff. Hey, that's Hasselhoff's favorite topic too! Perhaps you'll see him there.
