Model Elizabeth Hurley recently bribed her over-worked and underpaid maid, Violet D'Souza with a five-figure settlement so that she would not take her to an employment tribunal, according to Female First.
According to the magazine, Hurley and her millionaire husband Arun Nayer paid D'Souza just £1.40 per hour, and D'Souza claims that she was forced to work up to seven days a week starting from 7:30 a.m. and finishing at 3 a.m. the next day at the couple's London, England home. Her chores included cleaning, cooking and looking after Hurley's 5-year-old son Damian.
D'Souza was reportedly fired unexpectedly last summer, and she brought her complaints to the Citizens' Advice Bureau, who took her claims to London's Kingsway Employment Tribunal. However, now that Hurley has reportedly paid out her maid, D'Souza has dropped her claims.
"We can confirm this claim has been withdrawn and the pre-hearing review has been canceled but cannot discuss the reasons," a spokesman for the Employment Tribunal told Female First.
