Enchanted Takes Top Spot at Box Office Again

The Disney family fantasy Enchanted enjoyed another fairy-tale weekend at the box office this weekend, selling $17 million in movie tickets.

Starring Amy Adams as a cartoon princess who comes to life on the mean streets of Manhattan, Enchanted led the field for a second straight weekend and increased it total take to $70.6 million.

Family comedy This Christmas, about a family's first holiday reunion in four years, held steady in second place with $8.4 million.

Former champion Beowulf was unchanged at third with $7.9 million. After three weeks, director Robert Zemeckis' effects-laden adaptation of the old English warrior poem has earned $68.6 million

Only one film opened in the top ten - Awake, a romantic thriller starring Hayden Christensen as a Wall Street banker who is conscious during heart surgery, came in fourth with $6 million.

Slipping one place to fifth was the video game-inspired thriller Hitman with $5.8 million.

Rounding out the top ten were holiday comedy Fred Claus in sixth with $5.6 million, feel-good romance August Rush in seventh with $5.2 million, No Country for Old Men in eighth with $4.5 million, Bee Movie in ninth with $4.47 million and American Gangster was tenth with $4.3 million.
