Golden Globe Awards Odds at Bodog: Scorsese's Year?

Martin Scorsese should not only win a Golden Globe, but actor Matt Damon says the famed director should also pick up an Oscar

At 1/4 odds at the Bodog Sportsbook Martin Scorsese is favored to win the Golden Globe for 'Best Director' and his film, "The Departed", is at 1/2 odds to win the award for 'Best Motion Picture - Drama'. The early Oscar buzz also favors Scorsese to win for 'Best Director' and 'Best Motion Picture', but the odds on the Oscars are not yet posted. Oddly enough, even though Scorsese has directed some of the most powerful movies in recent years, he has yet to pick up an Oscar. And that does not sit well with Hollywood actor Matt Damon, who co-starred in "The Departed".

"He never felt that Hollywood had validated his work because his work is centred around the east coast and New York and that somehow threatened the establishment or something, Damon said recently. "But it demeans the Oscars more than it demeans Marty that he doesn't have one, to be honest with you. Once he receives his (Oscar), then everyone who has one, their award is validated."
