The writer's strike has affected one of Tinseltown's excuses to get all glammed up and pat each other on the back. Yes, break out the Kleenex folks, the Golden Globes have officially been canceled.

Rather than airing the Golden Globes, NBC instead will air an "awards announcement telecast" as part of its news.

According to deadlinehollywooddaily.com: "NBC will not be broadcasting the big Golden Globes show as planned for Jan.13. Nor will even a full frills unbroadcasted dinner party be held, either. Instead, a stripped down news telecast will be aired exclusively by NBC News from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, site of what was supposed to be the big show, where the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will announce the Golden Globe winners who won't be present in the room."

Luckily, the actors will still be able to get dolled up as there will be parties, interviews and photo ops at the Beverly Hilton. Phew.
