Hard Times for Oprah Winfrey

For once, things are not looking good for Oprah Winfrey. Perhaps the decline in the popularity of her show is due to her constant pushing of her new "Dr. Oz" brand. "The Oprah show" might as well be called "The Dr. Oz Hour."
The New York Times article entitled, "A Few Tremors in Oprahland" has the skinny -- which includes the facts that Oprah's talk show has fallen 7 percent this year; her magazine has fallen 10 percent over the last three years and viewers for her reality show, "Oprah's Big Give" have been on a steady decline.
Her successful book club has also gone a bit haywire -- as Oprah has opted to choose books from a new-age spiritualism genre than more mainstream picks. And her Obama endorsement has alienated many of her pro-Clinton fans.
However, the Oprah camp remains insistent that any drop in the viewers for the "Queen of Media" is not due to a decline in her popularity.
"Any drop in her television ratings can be traced to general weakness in the overall television audience," Tim Bennett, the president of Harpo said.
