You’d think Indiana Jones and Cannes wouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence. But there you have it. And here we go again: Indiana Jones will debut on May 18 at the snooty film fest in the south of France, according to Variety.
Starring Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf and Cate Blanchett, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is expected to be a contender for the 2008 box-office champ. It opens worldwide on May 22, four days after the Cannes premiere. A fourth installment of the action-adventure series is a collaboration by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
The report that the film would debut in Cannes is a good indication that it’s a high-quality flick. The last time Spielberg appeared at the French Riviera festival was in 1982, when he showed a little picture called “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial”.
The official lineup for Cannes won't be announced until April.
