Jessica Simpson has had a hard time fitting in lately. With her pop career not going well, a failed fashion line, a straight-to-DVD movie career and a marriage down the tubes, Simpson is trying to grasp at something she can call successful.

However, Simpson's latest venture into the world of country music has already started off relatively rocky. Wearing Daisy Duke shorts, Simpson took the stage to open for country singer Sara Evans at the Country Thunder USA festival in Randall, Wisconsin, only to be met with claps mingled with boos from the crowd.

"I don't know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I'm just a girl from Texas," Simpson told the crowd. "I'm just like you. I'm doing what I love and dating a boy."

One angry concert-goer said that Simpson was "an embarrassment to country music."

Will Jessica be able to revive a career on life support? "Come on Over," the first single off her album, debuted at No. 41 in May. Her new country album drops September 9.
