After Jimmy Kimmel totally  owned Jay Leno on Leno's own show, Leno went crying to Oprah saying Kimmel had "sucker punched" him. Thus, Kimmel took a moment to clarify what really went down during the infamous "10 at 10" segment.

When Oprah asked Leno about the Kimmel fiasco, Leno acted as if he was blindsided and didn’t expect Kimmel to make any jokes about the Tonight Show tug-of-war.

Kimmel said that the producers had called him and ran through the questions they were going to ask him, which included stuff like, "What is your junk food weakness?" Kimmel said that he told producers people didn't want to hear about his junk food weakness and probably wanted to hear more about the late night mess. Producers argued that they didn't  want to beat the topic to death, but  Kimmel said he did, so that's when he took matters into his own hands. When he made jokes about the fiasco, he assumed that  Leno, being  a comic, would fire back - but he didn't - he read from the cue cards "like a robot," Kimmel said.
