Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan Avenged Sevenfold Drummer Found Dead

James Owen Sullivan (right), a drummer and backup vocalist for heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, has died at the age of 28.
Avenged Sevenfold drummer James Owen Sullivan, nicknamed "The Rev," appeared to have died of natural causes at his home in Huntington Beach, California on Monday. Although Sullivan was known to use cocaine and other drugs, the Orange County Coroner’s Office is investigating his death.

Sullivan contributed the morbid song A Little Piece of Heaven, which drew criticism with the eight-minute video that poked fun at  necrophilia and murder.

Sullivan co-founded Avenged Sevenfold in 1999. The band found success when it  hit No. 4 on the U.S. in 2007 with its most recent album, a self-titled release that  sold more than  500,000 copies.  Avenged Sevenfold  toured with Ozzfest in 2006 and recently announced plans to record a third studio album.

Avenged Sevenfold said on their website: It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy 'The Rev’ Sullivan,' Jimmy was not only one of the world’s best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother."
