Singer Justin Timberlake is really trying hard to get his acting career going. Timberlake has previously starred in Alpha Dog, Southland Tales and Black Snake Moan. And now, the "Lovestoned" singer is set to star in The Open Road.
Timberlake will be playing a fictional Corpus Christi Hooks player named Carlton Garrett, according to People magazine. And in the film, Timberlake's character attempts to reconnect with his athlete father played by Jeff Bridges.
Sounds like a real tear-jerker.
"Justin wants to portray what it's like playing for the Hooks, playing for an Astros minor league team and playing at Whataburger Field," Hooks president J.J. Gottsch told the Associated Press.
According to People, The Open Road starts shooting next week in Hammond, La.
