If Katie Couric is trying to get back into the spotlight after her flailing ratings as the CBS Evening News anchorwoman have many speculating what her next career move will be, she has done it right.
This morning on "The Today Show," her former co-host Matt Lauer announced that Couric will return to the show on Wednesday to unveil a "major announcement."
Meredith Vieira, who had taken over Couric's position asked twice whether Couric was returning "permanently" to which Lauer said, "no." He then joked, "I think she's gonna look great as a guy."
However, several sources are now reporting that the announcement is in relation to a telethon with proceeds going to cancer research. Couric's late husband, Jay Monahan, passed from cancer in 1998 and Couric has been a predominant spokesperson for colon cancer research since.
