If you were out hitting the bottle last night - you missed the yearly parade of hotties in bikinis and ball gowns, otherwise known as The Miss America pageant. The winner was 22-year-old Katie Stam, a communications major at the University of Indianapolis, who was crowned Miss America last night at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Along with the title, Stam took home a $50,000 scholarship.
This year was a little different than the prior 87 years - as viewers of the show, aired on TLC chose the top four finalists. However, Stam successfully fended off the competition, 51 other beauties, as well as a throat infection, laryngitis.
During the talent portion of the competition, Stam sang "Via Dolorosa." Her chosen issue was not fighting for world peace, but rather fighting the use of performance-enhancing drugs amongst professional athletes.
Stam defined "glamor" during her interview as, "That beauty that you feel on the inside, it's that confidence, that radiance inside of you, that's what glamour is."
