Scott MacIntyre and Matt Giraud from season 8 returned to the Idol stage to perform a dueling piano version of Billy Joel's "Tell Her About It." The pair received a standing ovation for their performance.

Since his stint on Idol, the visually-impaired MacIntyre has been working on his album Heartstrings and   meeting with labels and book publishers in New York. Meanwhile, Giraud plugged the status of his new EP, which is working on.

Those booted on the elimination episode included the sweet, soft-spoken mullet-crowned Alex Lambert as well as the Broadway baby Todrick Hall. For the women, Katelyn Epperly was given the Idol boot, which was expected. Epperly sang Coldplay’s “The Scientist” and although her performance earned her rave reviews from the judges, her body of work has been lackluster. The biggest upset was Lilly Scott, who, although didn't blow the competition away with her performance on Tuesday night with her version of Patsy Cline’s "I Fall to Pieces", she certainly was one of the more refreshing contestants on the show.

“I don’t know what America wants to hear ”¦ but there’s an audience out there for me,” Scott told Ryan Seacrest.
