Under “plot synopsis” on the IMDB page for “Meet the Spartans” is the sentence: “This plot synopsis is empty.” Is it ever.
The comedy that spoofs the critical failure “300” isn’t going to win any Academy Awards but it did top the box office this weekend. “Meet the Spartans” made $18.7 million to beat out “Rambo”, which debuted second with $18.2 million.
Starring Sean Maguire and Carmen Electra, “Meet the Spartans” follows the 2007 hit parody “Epic Movie”, which was also produced by Twentieth Century Fox.
Chick flick “27 Dresses” made $13.7 million for third place and “Cloverfield” ($12.7 million) slipped to fourth from first.
“Meet the Spartans” was in less theatres than the three films it beat for top spot, an indication that kids will always go to stupid comedies because they’re a sure way to avoid any interaction with adults.
