Meghan McCain Twitters in Tank Top

Meghan McCain, the daughter of the former Republican presidential candidate who lost out to Barack Obama, recently tweeted that she would be staying in with some takeout while taking in the biography of Andy Warhol. She included a picture of herself (above) that showed off a little more than the Warhol bio. The picture had her 60,000 followers, mostly conservatives, up in arms. Thus, a litany of responses blasting McCain ensued, leading McCain to tweet shortly after: "so I took a fun picture not thinking anything about what I was wearing but apparently anything other than a pantsuit and I am a slut."

"This is why I have been considering deleting my twitter account." She later added, "What once was fun now just seems like a vessel for harassment."

Other tweets included, "When I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweat pants, I had no idea this makes me a slut, I can't even tell you how hurt I am."

Before turning in for the evening, Meghan tweeted, "ok I am getting the fuck off twitter, promise not to delete my account until I sleep on it, thank you for the nice words supporters."

She then tweeted a link to her latest article on The Daily Beast, which is a commentary on the negative press Jessica Simpson has earned from her weight gain.

However, by the next morning, the 24-year-old seemed to have a change of heart, tweeting, "I do want to apologize to anyone that was offended by my twitpic, I have clearly made a huge mistake and am sorry 2 those that are offended."
