Michael Lynche Sings 'This Woman's Work'
Michael Lynche blew the judges away with this Maxwell performance."]
On last night's American Idol, the eight remaining guys battled it out for a spot in the coveted top twelve. Singing the Maxwell song "This Woman's Work," it was former football player and new father Michael Lynche whole stole the night - moving judge Kara DioGuardi to tears. DioGuardi sought comfort in the arms of none other than ice king Simon Cowell. Is there something going on between those two? They have become quite touchy-feely in recent weeks.
Anyway, after Lynche's performance, both Randy Jackson and Ellen DeGeneres said he was the one to beat.
A teary DioGuardi said, "I have never cried after hearing something like that, it was amazing, you were amazing. It is so relevant for you and I can feel it, it is your life right now, the respect for your wife and what you have gone through."
Between hugs with Cowell she added, "As a woman who doesn't have a child I can relate to it so much and it brought me to tears."
Other standout performers from the night included (surprisingly) Tim Urban, who sang Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah." Urban, whom judges have lambasted in previous weeks, pulled it off and earned some much-needed praise. Todrick Hall, another of the judges least favorites, also took a big risk with Queen's "Somebody to Love," and although he took on a huge song, he also got rave reviews from the judges with Cowell saying that the song may have saved him.
