At 10 p.m. tonight, a new reality show will emerge courtesy of NBC and Ryan Seacrest - and the early reviews are already calling it a stinker. However, the fact that they have a potential bomb on their hands is only a fraction of the problem for NBC. Apparently, the creator of a Turkish reality TV show is trying to block tonight's premiere of Momma's Boys on the grounds that Seacrest blatantly stole the idea from him.
Luftu Murat Uckardesler says NBC and Ryan Seacreast Productions "willfully appropriated" the format of Momma's Boys from his show, Perfect Bride - which is apparently a hit in Turkey. Lawyers for the show are arguing at a court hearing this morning that Momma's Boys, which follows three bachelors and their moms as they sift through 32 desperado contestants, should be barred from the airwaves for copyright and trademark infringement.
