Obama Family Interview on 'Access Hollywood'

You'd think 60 Minutes or 20/20 would be among the contenders for the exclusive first family interview with the Obamas. However, in a surprising move, Barack opted to appear alongside his family on a show that usually covers more superficial topics such as Britney's three-pound weight gain, Angelina's edgy tattoos and the latest in celebrity crotch shots. Access Hollywood , yes, the show that has the journalistic integrity of Tiger Beat, gave a group interview to Barack, his wife Michelle Obama and their daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.

Entertainment reporter (and we use the term "reporter" loosely) Maria Menounos, asked the hard-hitting questions, like how will they plan decorate the White House as well as what the family thought of Barack's style -- fine questions for the youngsters, we guess.

"I think it's funny that he's involved in this fashion icon stuff, because these pants he's probably had for about 10 years," Michelle Obama told Menounos.

Beginning last night, Obama's interview with Access Hollywood will continue to air over the next three nights. Perhaps Barack is appealing to the dumbed down American audience, those who opt for celebrity news over the real issues.
