Paula Abdul's 'American Idol' Flub

On American Idol last night, things went the way they usually do. The AI kids made us hate some Neil Diamond songs (we're looking at you Jason Castro), Simon Cowell called Brooke White (30/1) "a nightmare," and Paula Abdul wasn't sure where she was or how she'd gotten there.

The format was changed last night when the contestants were asked to perform two songs and the judges were asked to refrain from comment until after the second songs were performed. An awkward moment ensued when Abdul tried to critique a song Castro (25/1) hadn't performed yet.

"Jason, first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear, um... The second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn't — it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty." Wow. Good critique, Paula. If only Jason had sang a second song.
