All things considered, everyone -- including the dancers, judges and fans -- had to know that it was going to be a tough show to pull off and sell. So, "So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe did what any professional ought to do and he addressed the elephant in the room, paying tribute to Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and, of course, Michael Jackson.

But, as they say, the show must go on. And on it went.

Thursday's elimination sent another three couples to face the firing squad, but in the end it was Asuka Kondoh and Jonathan Platero who were given the axe.

And then there were 14...

Is this the best season ever for SYTYCD?

So far, so good. We're not seeing the kind of chemistry between the couples that we experienced last season (but it's still early); and while the dancing and choreography has been impressive, it hasn't been mind-blowing (not yet, anyway).
