The Oprah Winfrey Show is Coming to an End

Oprah Winfrey informed her staff on Thursday that she is pulling the plug on her television talk show, "The Oprah Winfrey Show," as of September 2011.

The rest of the world will get the bad news on Friday morning when she makes the announcement official on her show, but word has it that Ms. Winfrey is finally getting set to launch her new television network -- OWN -- the Oprah Winfrey Network. As part of a new partnership with Discovery Communications Inc., the new channel will become a joint venture between Ms. Winfrey and Discovery, and includes Oprah.com.

"We have the greatest respect for Oprah and we wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors, we do know anything she turns her hand to will be a great success," said a spokesman for the CBS Television Studios.

You have to know that the folks over at CBS are NOT happy with the news. After all, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" is the highest-rated talk show in American television history and is currently the longest-running daytime television talk show in the United States.

Coincidentally, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" turns 25 in September 2011. Leave it to Oprah to go out on a high note.
