Tiger Woods announced on his official Web site Monday that his wife Elin gave birth to the couple's second child and first son, Charlie Axel Woods, on Sunday.

"Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts," Woods said in a statement on his site. "Sam is very excited to be a big sister and we feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family."

Tiger and Elin Woods have a first child Sam Alexis Woods, who was born in June of '07, less than 24 hours after he tied for second at the U.S. Open.

"I also want to thank our doctors, nurses and the hospital staff for their personal and professional care," Woods continued. "We look forward to introducing Charlie to you at the appropriate time, and again thanks from all of us for your kindness and support."

Tiger has not played in the PGA Tour since undergoing knee surgery shortly after he won the U.S. Open last summer for his 14th career major. However, Woods is expected to return before the Masters, perhaps even as early as the Accenture Match Play Championship in late February.
