Now, rather than playing German officer Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, the anti-Nazi celebrated for unsuccessfully trying to kill Adolf Hitler, Tom Cruise has taken on the role of a detective, helming the investigation on the moment of silence mystery farter.

A source said Cruise decided to ask for the minute's silence to show respect for holocaust victims and appease the German government, who only allowed the Scientologist on German turf if post-war Germany was shown in a positive light.

The source added, "So for somebody to pass wind in a situation like that is unforgivable."

But it looks like "the case of the heartless farter" will be solved soon, as the crime was caught on film. Cruise plans to go through the footage to identify the insolent, gassy culprit, who will likely be fired.
