Tropic Thunder Cooks Up Storm At Box Office

For the first time in four weeks The Dark Knight was not the highest grossing movie of the weekend, that honor would belong to Ben Stiller and Tropic Thunder.

Anchored with an impressive crop of actors, Tropic Thunder brought home $26M in its first weekend on the big screen.

The film, also starring Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. features a cast of actors filming a big-budget war movie who are eventually sent into an actual hostile jungle to fend for their lives, without their knowledge.

Though it's not as impressive as a four-week run at the top, The Dark Knight still managed to claim second with a $16.8M showing and $471M overall.

Rounding out the top three in animated fashion was Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the latest of the series and first in complete computer animation.

In its debut weekend Clone Wars brought home $15.5M.

Mirrors and Pineapple Express followed suit in fourth and fifth respectively.
