Tyra Banks Takes on American Idol

"America's Next Top Model" Cycle 8 returns Wednesday night. This season 32 aspiring models immediately go to boot camp and surely the whiniest 13 will move into the coveted Hollywood Hills mansion. The CW promises that the models' first photo shoot will be controversial and the claws will come out.

Even with the endless promises of model contoversy, "America's Next Top Model" will air at 8 PM on CW, directly opposite the hugely popular "American Idol". Idol has been known to squash shows in the past. The CBS show, "Armed and Famous" which allowed five quasi-celebs to carry guns and enforce law in Muncie, Indiana, could not keep up with "American Idol" and was cancelled after only a few episodes. "It came down to ratings," said CBS spokesman Chris Ender. "Going up against American Idol was a tall task for the show."

Can Tyra and her cronies take the Idol heat? See the drama unfold in the two-hour, eighth-cycle premiere of "America's Next Top Model" on Wednesday, February 28, 8/7c on The CW. Will "Top Model" be stong enough to go head to head against ratings ruler, "American Idol"? Place your American Idol bets at Bodog Sportsbook.
