Live! From the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore Maryland, it's the 2009 Preakness Stakes!
At approximately 6:05 PM EST Saturday you had better be planted in front of your television, with the channel set to catch all the action on NBC, with all your bets made and your nerves in check. Filly Rachel Alexandra is the 8-5 morning-line favorite to win the Preakness, a feat that has not been accomplished by any other filly since Nellie Morse won it in 1924.
Jockey Calvin Borel, who won the 2009 Kentucky Derby atop Mine That Bird, will be riding Rachel Alexandra. Trainer Steve Asmussen is confident that both jockey and horse will do well in the No. 13 post on the far outside.
"It's beautiful. She's going to be able to get position," Scott Blasi, Asmussen's assistant, said.
At 6-1 odds, Mine That Bird will be starting out of post position No. 2 and Friesan Fire, also at 6-1 odds, will be coming out of the No. 5 post.
