Bejarano Could Ride The Kentucky Oaks

Less than a week ago Rafael Bejarano received a five day suspension from the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority. Bejarano, riding Onlynurimagination, apparently bumped Fiddler in the final turn of race two Wednesday at Keeneland, prompting a claim of interference from jockey Rene Douglas. The complaint resulted in disqualification and suspension for Rafael who immediately appealed the suspension. Lucky for him it was overturned. Had he not won his appeal he wouldn't have gone on to win the Kentucky Derby Trial Stakes today atop Record; who paid $12.20 to win, as well being in contention to ride Press Camp in the Kentucky Oaks.
Bejarano is a top rider whose best year came in 2004 when he led all jockeys with an outstanding 455 wins. I am personally glad he won his appeal; he has too much potential to miss out on something like the Oaks, as well as the fact that I picked him as one of my jockeys in the Road to the Roses this year, and he finally picked up some points for his stakes win today! Better late then never I suppose.
One more week till the Kentucky Oaks and Derby, check out our future odds!
