Word on the street is, Big Brown had better watch out. This year, Casino Drive will have the added benefit of being ridden by Edgar Prado, a jockey who is notorious for spoiling two of the last three Triple Crown bids. Casino Drive is also a scary Belmont contender for Big Brown because his breeding screams "Belmont winner."
On paper, Japanese-based Casino Drive is the best-bred Belmont contender in the world, being half-brother to Jazil, winner of the 2006 Belmont Stakes as well as three-quarter brother to Rags to Riches, the filly who upset Curlin in last year's Belmont.
Casino Drive also enjoyed an amazing run at this year's Peter Pan, where he emerged as Big Brown's serious threat for the Belmont. After Casino Drive's Peter Pan win, jockey Kent Desormeaux (who will ride Big Brown at the Belmont) said: "He ´s a real runner and he ´s going to be a handful (for Big Brown) to deal with in the Belmont."
