Del Mar Horse Racing: Odds to Win the Sorrento Stakes

Two-year-old fillies will be put to the test on Aug. 7 in the 6 ½ furlong Sorrento Stakes on Polytrack at Del Mar. The race has attracted a field of 10 fillies and headlines the Del Mar twilight card with a post time of 6:30 p.m. PDT.

Necessary Evil will be the morning line favorite and will draw top weight of 123 lbs. In her last race the undefeated filly beat the boys at the Hollywood Juvenile Championship (gr. III). She will break from Post 9 and will be ridden by Joel Rosario.

Her biggest competition will come from the David Hofmans-trained Well Deserved. She has a record of 2-1-0 in three starts and will break from the rail on Friday. Necessary Evil and Well Deserved have the only stakes wins in the field of 10. Camille C, Laura's Pleasure, and Miss Heather Lee are all coming off maiden wins.
