Ginger Punch won her third straight stakes race by winning the $285,000 Ruffian Handicap for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.

The 4-year-old won her second straight grade I as she continued her dominance over her competition. Even thought Ginger Punch is now the leader in the division she is not eligible to the Breeders' Cup and would require a $180,000 supplement to run in the Distaff.

Each win makes it more likely that the Stronach Stables will pony up the fee to get Ginger Punch in this years Breeder’s Cup Championship being held at Monmouth Park.

Ginger Punch, who paid $3.50, an the 1 1/16 miles in 1:40.25, breaking the stakes record of 1:40.35 set by Riboletta in 2000.
