It was announced today that the 2009 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic winner, Life Is Sweet, will not be running in the $150,000 Bayakoa Handicap (Gr. 2). Horse racing fans will nonetheless want to place their bets on Saturday's action at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, CA as a competitive field of fillies and mares (aged 3+) are set to take to the synthetic dirt -- with or without the headlining horse.
"It might be a little quick back," trainer John Shirreffs said of Life Is Sweet racing in the Bayakoa.
Originally called the Silver Belles Handicap, the race was changed to the Bayakoa Handicap in 1994 in honor of U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee, Bayakoa.
11 fillies and mares are registered to race, including last year's winner -- Briecat.
