Horse Racing Odds: Risen Star Stakes & Fountain of Youth Contenders

The favorite for the Fountain of Youth Stakes will likely be Buddy's Saint. He will have his work cut out for him because the race will have most of the top Kentucky Derby prospects. He should get his hardest challenge from Jackson Bend, who has a record of 5-2-0 in seven starts.

In the Risen Stars Stakes the horse to watch out for is Ron The Greek. The 1 1/16 mile race is the final local prep for the $750,000 Louisiana Derby on Saturday, March 27. Jockey James Graham will once again get to ride Ron The Greek.

Both these races are eventual preps for bigger races on the graded stakes schedule. It's easy to say that some of these horses over the weekend will be running in the Kentucky Derby and other Triple Crown races. These races are usually a good at look at which horses are showing dominance.
