Horse racing odds on the $750,000 Jockey Club Gold Club will likely list 2009 Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird as one of the favorites, considering the horse has already put in a solid workout for the Oct. 3rd race at Belmont Park.

With jockey Kent Desormeaux in the saddle, Summer Bird breezed five furlongs in 1:00, the second fastest of 15 moves at the distance.

"I'm very pleased," Desormeaux said. "He appears to be a happy horse, and a happy horse is a fast horse."

"Kent was very excited about his work, and I'd have to say it has to be one of his best works since he's been in training," said trainer Tim Ice. "He looked great, he galloped out strong. All in all, I'd have to give it an A-plus."

If Summer Bird wins the Jockey Club Gold Cup, he will become the first horse since Easy Goer back in 1989 to win the Belmont Stakes, Travers Stakes and Jockey Club Gold Cup.

After that, Summer Bird will be   off to compete in the Breeders' Cup Championships!
