Shaun Bridgmohan and Steve Asmussen: A Force to be Reckoned With

And they're off... (AP Images)

At the Sugar Bowl Stakes race on Saturday December 22nd, 2007, Sok Sok made a name for himself with a win by 8 ¾ lengths in a eight-horse field. However, the main event came in the form of Sok Sok’s jockey Shaun Bridgmohan and trainer Steve Asmussen. With 6 wins under his belt on Saturday, tying the track record of wins in a day, Bridgmohan was having a great first day riding at Fair Grounds.

“I'm good, man,” said Bridgmohan while entering the Fair Grounds jockey quarters, “but a little disappointed I didn't win my seventh,"

The more races Shaun Bridgmohan and Steve Asmussen run, the more apparent it is that this jockey/trainer team is a force to reckon with. They started working together around 3 years ago when they met at Arlington Park.

"Riding for Steve is really good, obviously,” said Bridgmohan, “and riding for him, you know when he leads them over here, they're very live,"

Although Bridgmohan had a number of wins, his most exciting win was hands down when he rode Sok Sok for Savorthetime Stables, stopping the clock in 1:09.44 winning by 8 ¾ lengths.
