The Breeders Cup World Championship 2008 and 2009 will be held for the first time in history at the same track two consecutive years in a row, the lucky track being Santa Anita which has hosted the Breeders Cup previously in 1986, 1993, and 2003.

The Breeders Cup World Championship is becoming larger event, in 2007 it marked the first time this event was held over a two day spanand this upcoming year the purses will be increased from 14 million to a huge 25.5 million.

“We are excited about the prospect for consecutive years in America's second-largest media market,” Breeders’ Cup chairman Bill Farish said in a statement. “Santa Anita is a fantastic venue, and the Oak Tree Racing Association has been a great partner during our 25-year history.”

With all drainage issue for Santa Anita being addressed in the last couple of days and the track crews working tirelessly everything looks positive for the races to come.
