Big Brown's hoof injury is healing faster than expected, according to hoof specialist, Ian McKinlay. Healing from a crack in his front left foot, Big Brown was back on the track this morning, completing a 1.5 mile jog at Belmont Park without a hitch.
This was Big Brown's first time on the track since the quarter crack was discovered last Friday.
“His feet were ice cold late in the day, and this really doesn’t even qualify as a bump on the road,” McKinlay told the New York Times.
Michael Iavarone, co-owner of Big Brown and president of International Equine Acquisitions Holdings said, “I guess we surprised everybody today. I think the decision to go to the track this morning was made late last night. Big Brown was just getting too aggressive in the barn. He needed to go to the track."
The quarter crack is not considered serious enough to keep Big Brown from running in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 7. Head over to the Bodog Racebook and get your Triple Crown odds today.
