Triple Crown Power Rankings - Kentucky Derby Top 12

Big Brown (3-1): The freakishly gifted colt that burst on the scene with a most impressive and very fast win from post 12 in the Florida Derby. Has a history of hoof problems, so must have no setbacks and then will need to avoid intense speed duel with War Pass and Bob Black Jack.

Colonel John (6-1): Rallied belatedly but strongly to catch Bob Black Jack at nine furlongs in SA Derby and galloped out very well. May be the right horse in Louisville, despite only two prep races and his first career start on dirt in the Derby. A suicidal pace will help.

Pyro (8-1): Consistent stretch runner came up empty trying to handle the polytrack at Keeneland. He's run well enough in all outings on dirt to suggest he still will be an important threat when he returns to that surface at Churchill Downs - unless he suffered a hidden physical problem.
