Action Starts Early at Final Table of WPT LA Poker Classic

The action is underway and heating up fast at the WPT LA Poker Classic. (Bodog Beat Image)

If this is any indication of the way this final table is going to play out today, then we could be looking at quite a few fireworks here at the WPT LA Poker Classic. The very first hand of play gave us a new chipleader and just a few hands later the chips were shifting around the table again.

With Phil Ivey sitting in the small blind and Charles "Woody" Moore in the big blind for the first deal of the cards, Ivey raised and was immediately reraised all-in by Moore. Ivey went into the tank for several minutes, seeming to make up his mind, almost muck his hand and then change his mind back again several times. He eventually called only to find his A-9 dominated by A-K. No help came on the board and Moore doubled up to become the new chipleader.

Just a few hands later, Ivey found himself facing another reraise, this time from Scott Montgomery. Ivey once again called to see a flop and apparently got no help again because Montgomery bet out 800,000 and Ivey folded.

Action has calmed down a bit since that initial action and Ivey has picked up a few smaller pots to try and stem the bleeding, but as the dynamic at the table has now changed and the pace has been set we could be looking at a good time tonight.
